Now that we have the rock basics down, how about tackling the other half of the picture? The most common question I get is about my use of "Organic Silver." What is it? How can metal be organic? Where does it come from? How is it different from Sterling? Fine silver?
No, it is not that I did not feed the metal hormones while it was growing, or that I didn't spray it with pesticides. A metal is not, by definition, an organic substance (one that was once alive, like coal.) And no, it isn't healthy to eat.
So what IS it? "Organic Silver" is my unique term for the processes that I use in working with metal. It involves recycling sterling silver, free-form melting it (so that the shapes and textures are determined by the physical properties of the metal and how it interacts with that day's environment), and finally pairing it with a natural mineral specimen in a mutually complimentary manner.
Curious? Read all about it in my "Organic Silver" Process section.
